The Return To The Ice Is Happening
BACK ON THE LINE!
The lack of hockey due to the current events over the last 2 months has left quite a void for all players, coaches, and all the hockey community.
The obvious serious nature of a global pandemic takes precedent in any scenario and that is to be understood. It goes without saying that we all have done and are doing our part to help the situation. But with players unable to skate or train on the ice at any capacity, it is hard to not become restless.
Coaches spend all season teaching, training, and building players and teams to be able to get a solid chance at the playoffs and championships. Private lesson coaches and players spend a great deal of time in improving techniques and skills to help with their game play and team contribution. Parents and families spend large sums of money through equipment, travel, and other expenses to get as much ice time and exposure for their children as possible. With a sudden pause in all activities, this will definitely have had a great impact on the growth and development of the players. There have been extensive, but limited, options for players to continue to train through home workouts and plyometrics, virtual training and lessons, inline and outdoor roller skating, etc. These are all great for the players to be involved with but there unfortunately is no substitute for ice. Alot of this “new” training is what most players should have already been doing anyway. This will be interesting to see what the return through practices and tryouts will bring and which players will have the edge. Even though this wasn’t an ideal situation, the players who took advantage of the opportunity to train a bit harder in comparison to the competition will see great results and notice from coaches come practices and tryouts.
The ice rinks in the area are slowly starting to open up privately to players and teams to begin to get back to a somewhat normal return. The rinks and businesses will have to follow strict guidelines, as to be expected, for the safety and protection of all hockey players and personnel.
Depending on what the next plan is for USA Hockey’s restrictions and guidelines, players will have to work hard and quickly to be able to compete and have the edge. They will need to work hard with their training and focus to return to where they left off from before the quarantine.
Battista Hockey will be working hard to train as many players as possible, offer as much ice times with camps and clinics, and to provide players with the necessary push to get them the competitive edge for the short time frame of tryouts.
CENTER ICE ARENA will be returning privately on JUNE 8TH. ALPHA ICE COMPLEX is currently running privately for certain camps and clinics. The KD HOCKEY (DAVIS GOALTENDING) facility will be open privately for lessons starting JUNE 5TH.
